The History of Mirror Mustaches

In the late 1890's my great great great grandfather Hank P. Rutherford was working as a Mirrorsmith Hank P. Rutherford in an eastern Virginia mill. At the age of 52 he was incredibly skilled in his craft. Tales of his exquisite mirrors traveled up and down the east coast. One day he was approached by a young woman who had seen some of his mirrors in a store. Her name was Amelia Grayson and she wanted to know more about such artistic mirrors. When they first met she laughed and said Hank's mustache was quite unexpected Amelia with the first Mirror Mustache and comical. In response Hank twisted up the ends of his mustache and made a silly face, this made Amelia laugh again. That single incident gave him an idea to create a mirror she could look into each day and laugh. He crafted a small hand mirror and found some dark paper and adhesive. After cutting out a crude mustache he attached it to the mirror, and thus Mirror Mustaches were born.

Over 100 years later, the material may have changed, but the intention remains the same. Attach these vinyl mustaches to mirrors, windows, or glass doors and have a little extra fun each day. Just like grandpappy Hank always said, "A moment of laughter is worth a thousand mirrors!". It certainly is Hank, it certainly is.
